展开摘要

Direct Preference Optimization (DPO) has shown effectiveness in aligning multi-modal large language models (MLLM) with human preferences. However, existing methods exhibit an imbalanced responsiveness to the data of varying hardness, tending to overfit on the easy-to-distinguish data while underfitting on the hard-to-distinguish data. In this paper, we propose Data- and Model-aware DPO (DAMA) to dynamically adjust the optimization process from two key aspects: (1) a data-aware strategy that incorporates data hardness, and (2) a model-aware strategy that integrates real-time model responses. By combining the two strategies, DAMA enables the model to effectively adapt to data with varying levels of hardness. Extensive experiments on five benchmarks demonstrate that DAMA not only significantly enhances the trustworthiness, but also improves the effectiveness over general tasks. For instance, on the Object HalBench, our DAMA-7B reduces response-level and mentioned-level hallucination by 90.0% and 95.3%, respectively, surpassing the performance of GPT-4V.

MIRROR: Make Your Object-Level Multi-View Generation More Consistent with Training-Free Rectification

Tianchi Xing, Bonan Li, Congying Han, Xinmin Qiu, Zicheng Zhang, Tiande Guo

展开摘要

Multi-view Diffusion has greatly advanced the development of 3D content creation by generating multiple images from distinct views, achieving remarkable photorealistic results. However, existing works are still vulnerable to inconsistent 3D geometric structures (commonly known as Janus Problem) and severe artifacts. In this paper, we introduce MIRROR, a versatile plug-and-play method that rectifies such inconsistencies in a training-free manner, enabling the acquisition of high-fidelity, realistic structures without compromising diversity. Our key idea focuses on tracing the motion trajectory of physical points across adjacent viewpoints, enabling rectifications based on neighboring observations of the same region. Technically, MIRROR comprises two core modules: Trajectory Tracking Module (TTM) for pixel-wise trajectory tracking that labels identical points across views, and Feature Rectification Module (FRM) for explicitly adjustment of each pixel embedding on noisy synthesized images by minimizing the distance to corresponding block features in neighboring views, thereby achieving consistent outputs. Extensive evaluations demonstrate that MIRROR can seamlessly integrate with a diverse range of off-the-shelf object-level multi-view diffusion models, significantly enhancing both the consistency and the fidelity in an efficient way.

展开摘要

In this paper, we propose a novel 3D registration paradigm, Generative Point Cloud Registration, which bridges advanced 2D generative models with 3D matching tasks to enhance registration performance. Our key idea is to generate cross-view consistent image pairs that are well-aligned with the source and target point clouds, enabling geometric-color feature fusion to facilitate robust matching. To ensure high-quality matching, the generated image pair should feature both 2D-3D geometric consistency and cross-view texture consistency. To achieve this, we introduce Match-ControlNet, a matching-specific, controllable 2D generative model. Specifically, it leverages the depth-conditioned generation capability of ControlNet to produce images that are geometrically aligned with depth maps derived from point clouds, ensuring 2D-3D geometric consistency. Additionally, by incorporating a coupled conditional denoising scheme and coupled prompt guidance, Match-ControlNet further promotes cross-view feature interaction, guiding texture consistency generation. Our generative 3D registration paradigm is general and could be seamlessly integrated into various registration methods to enhance their performance. Extensive experiments on 3DMatch and ScanNet datasets verify the effectiveness of our approach.

展开摘要

While super-resolution (SR) methods based on diffusion models (DM) have demonstrated inspiring performance, their deployment is impeded due to the heavy request of memory and computation. Recent researchers apply two kinds of methods to compress or fasten the DM. One is to compress the DM into 1-bit, aka binarization, alleviating the storage and computation pressure. The other distills the multi-step DM into only one step, significantly speeding up inference process. Nonetheless, it remains impossible to deploy DM to resource-limited edge devices. To address this problem, we propose BiMaCoSR, which combines binarization and one-step distillation to obtain extreme compression and acceleration. To prevent the catastrophic collapse of the model caused by binarization, we proposed sparse matrix branch (SMB) and low rank matrix branch (LRM). Both auxiliary branches pass the full-precision (FP) information but in different ways. SMB absorbs the extreme values and its output is high rank, carrying abundant FP information. Whereas, the design of LRMB is inspired by LoRA and is initialized with the top r SVD components, outputting low rank representation. The computation and storage overhead of our proposed branches can be safely ignored. Comprehensive comparison experiments are conducted to exhibit BiMaCoSR outperforms current state-of-the-art binarization methods and gains competitive performance compared with FP one-step model. Moreover, we achieve excellent compression and acceleration. BiMaCoSR achieves a 23.8x compression ratio and a 27.4x speedup ratio compared to FP counterpart. 展开摘要

Video Question-Answering (VideoQA) remains challenging in achieving advanced cognitive reasoning due to the uncontrollable and opaque reasoning processes in existing Multimodal Large Language Models (MLLMs). To address this issue, we propose a novel Language-centric Tree Reasoning (LTR) framework that targets on enhancing the reasoning ability of models. In detail, it recursively divides the original question into logically manageable parts and conquers them piece by piece, enhancing the reasoning capabilities and interpretability of existing MLLMs. Specifically, in the first stage, the LTR focuses on language to recursively generate a language-centric logical tree, which gradually breaks down the complex cognitive question into simple perceptual ones and plans the reasoning path through a RAG-based few-shot approach. In the second stage, with the aid of video content, the LTR performs bottom-up logical reasoning within the tree to derive the final answer along with the traceable reasoning path. Experiments across 11 VideoQA benchmarks demonstrate that our LTR framework significantly improves both accuracy and interpretability compared to state-of-the-art MLLMs. To our knowledge, this is the first work to implement a language-centric logical tree to guide MLLM reasoning in VideoQA, paving the way for language-centric video understanding from perception to cognition.

展开摘要

Transformer architectures depend on explicit position encodings to capture token positional information. Rotary Position Encoding (RoPE) has emerged as a popular choice in language models due to its efficient encoding of relative position information through key-query rotations. However, RoPE faces significant limitations beyond language processing: it is constrained to one-dimensional sequence data and, even with learnable phases, offers limited representational capacity. We address these challenges with Lie Relative Encodings (LieRE), which generalizes RoPE to high-dimensional rotation matrices by leveraging their Lie group structure. Through extensive evaluation on three image datasets across 2D and 3D classification tasks, LieRE achieves 1.5% improvement over state-of-the-art baselines on 2D tasks and 1% on 3D tasks, while demonstrating superior generalization to higher resolutions. Our implementation is computationally efficient, with results reproducible on 4 A100 GPUs in 30 minutes on CIFAR100. Our code is available at https://github.com/StanfordMIMI/LieRE.

展开摘要

Large multimodal models (LMMs) often struggle to recognize novel concepts, as they rely on pre-trained knowledge and have limited ability to capture subtle visual details. Domain-specific knowledge gaps in training also make them prone to confusing visually similar, commonly misrepresented, or low-resource concepts. To help LMMs better align nuanced visual features with language, improving their ability to recognize and reason about novel or rare concepts, we propose a Contrastive visual Data Augmentation (CoDA) strategy. CoDA extracts key contrastive textual and visual features of target concepts against the known concepts they are misrecognized as, and then uses multimodal generative models to produce targeted synthetic data. Automatic filtering of extracted features and augmented images is implemented to guarantee their quality, as verified by human annotators. We show the effectiveness and efficiency of CoDA on low-resource concept and diverse scene recognition datasets including INaturalist and SUN. We additionally collect NovelSpecies, a benchmark dataset consisting of newly discovered animal species that are guaranteed to be unseen by LMMs. LLaVA-1.6 1-shot updating results on these three datasets show CoDA significantly improves SOTA visual data augmentation strategies by 12.3% (NovelSpecies), 5.1% (SUN), and 6.0% (iNat) absolute gains in accuracy.

展开摘要

Human mesh recovery (HMR) from a single image is inherently ill-posed due to depth ambiguity and occlusions. Probabilistic methods have tried to solve this by generating numerous plausible 3D human mesh predictions, but they often exhibit misalignment with 2D image observations and weak robustness to in-the-wild images. To address these issues, we propose ADHMR, a framework that **A**ligns a **D**iffusion-based **HMR** model in a preference optimization manner. First, we train a human mesh prediction assessment model, HMR-Scorer, capable of evaluating predictions even for in-the-wild images without 3D annotations. We then use HMR-Scorer to create a preference dataset, where each input image has a pair of winner and loser mesh predictions. This dataset is used to finetune the base model using direct preference optimization. Moreover, HMR-Scorer also helps improve existing HMR models by data cleaning, even with fewer training samples. Extensive experiments show that ADHMR outperforms current state-of-the-art methods. Code is available at: [*https://github.com/shenwenhao01/ADHMR*](https://github.com/shenwenhao01/ADHMR).

展开摘要

Existing multimodal large model-based image compression frameworks often rely on a fragmented integration of semantic retrieval, latent compression, and generative models, resulting in suboptimal performance in both reconstruction fidelity and coding efficiency. To address these challenges, we propose a residual-guided ultra lowrate image compression named ResULIC, which incorporates residual signals into both semantic retrieval and the diffusion-based generation process. Specifically, we introduce Semantic Residual Coding (SRC) to capture the semantic disparity between the original image and its compressed latent representation. A perceptual fidelity optimizer is further applied for superior reconstruction quality. Additionally, we present the Compression-aware Diffusion Model (CDM), which establishes an optimal alignment between bitrates and diffusion time steps, improving compression-reconstruction synergy. Extensive experiments demonstrate the effectiveness of ResULIC, achieving superior objective and subjective performance compared to state-of-the-art diffusion-based methods with -80.7\%, -66.3\% BD-rate saving in terms of LPIPS and FID.

展开摘要

With advancements in visual language models (VLMs) and large language models (LLMs), video anomaly detection (VAD) has progressed beyond binary classification to fine-grained categorization and multidimensional analysis. However, existing methods focus mainly on coarse-grained detection, lacking anomaly explanations. To address these challenges, we propose Ex-VAD, an Explainable Fine-grained Video Anomaly Detection approach that combines fine-grained classification with detailed explanations of anomalies. First, we use a VLM to extract frame-level captions, and an LLM converts them to video-level explanations, enhancing the model's explainability. Second, integrating textual explanations of anomalies with visual information greatly enhances the model's anomaly detection capability. Finally, we apply label-enhanced alignment to optimize feature fusion, enabling precise fine-grained detection. Extensive experimental results on the UCF-Crime and XD-Violence datasets demonstrate that Ex-VAD significantly outperforms existing State-of-The-Art methods.

展开摘要

Trajectory prediction for surrounding agents is a challenging task in autonomous driving due to its inherent uncertainty and underlying multimodality. Unlike prevailing data-driven methods that primarily rely on supervised learning, in this paper, we introduce a novel **G**raph-**o**riented **I**nverse **R**einforcement **L**earning (GoIRL) framework, which is an IRL-based predictor equipped with vectorized context representations. Furthermore, conditioned on the sampled plans, we implement a hierarchical parameterized trajectory generator with a refinement module to enhance prediction accuracy and a probability fusion strategy to boost prediction confidence. Extensive experimental results showcase our approach not only achieves state-of-the-art performance on the large-scale Argoverse & nuScenes motion forecasting benchmarks but also exhibits superior generalization abilities compared to existing supervised models.

展开摘要

Orientation is a fundamental attribute of objects, essential for understanding their spatial pose and arrangement. However, practical solutions for estimating the orientation of open-world objects in monocular images remain underexplored. In this work, we introduce Orient Anything, the first foundation model for zero-shot object orientation estimation. A key challenge in this task is the scarcity of orientation annotations for open-world objects. To address this, we propose leveraging the vast resources of 3D models. By developing a pipeline to annotate the front face of 3D objects and render them from random viewpoints, we curate 2 million images with precise orientation annotations across a wide variety of object categories. To fully leverage the dataset, we design a robust training objective that models the 3D orientation as probability distributions over three angles and predicts the object orientation by fitting these distributions. Besides, we propose several strategies to further enhance the synthetic-to-real transfer. Our model achieves state-of-the-art orientation estimation accuracy on both rendered and real images, demonstrating impressive zero-shot capabilities across various scenarios. Furthermore, it shows great potential in enhancing high-level applications, such as understanding complex spatial concepts in images and adjusting 3D object pose.

展开摘要

We propose **DocVXQA**, a novel framework for visually self-explainable document question answering, where the goal is not only to produce accurate answers to questions but also to learn visual heatmaps that highlight critical regions, offering interpretable justifications for the model decision. To integrate explanations into the learning process, we quantitatively formulate explainability principles as explicit learning criteria. Unlike conventional relevance map methods that solely emphasize regions relevant to the answer, our context-aware DocVXQA delivers explanations that are contextually sufficient yet representation-efficient. This fosters user trust while achieving a balance between predictive performance and interpretability in document visual question answering applications. Extensive experiments, including human evaluation, provide strong evidence supporting the effectiveness of our method.

展开摘要

3D vision-language grounding faces a fundamental data bottleneck: while 2D models train on billions of images, 3D models have access to only thousands of labeled scenes--a six-order-of-magnitude gap that severely limits performance. We introduce \textbf{\emph{LIFT-GS}}, a practical distillation technique that overcomes this limitation by using differentiable rendering to bridge 3D and 2D supervision. LIFT-GS predicts 3D Gaussian representations from point clouds and uses them to render predicted language-conditioned 3D masks into 2D views, enabling supervision from 2D foundation models (SAM, CLIP, LLaMA) without requiring any 3D annotations. This render-supervised formulation enables end-to-end training of complete encoder-decoder architectures and is inherently model-agnostic. LIFT-GS achieves state-of-the-art results with 25.7\% mAP on open-vocabulary instance segmentation (vs. 20.2\% prior SOTA) and consistent 10-30\% improvements on referential grounding tasks. Remarkably, pretraining effectively multiplies fine-tuning datasets by 2×, demonstrating strong scaling properties that suggest 3D VLG currently operates in a severely data-scarce regime. 展开摘要

Achieving robustness in image segmentation models is challenging due to the fine-grained nature of pixel-level classification. These models, which are crucial for many real-time perception applications, particularly struggle when faced with natural corruptions in the wild for autonomous systems. While sensitivity analysis can help us understand how input variables influence model outputs, its application to natural and uncontrollable corruptions in training data is computationally expensive. In this work, we present an adaptive, sensitivity-guided augmentation method to enhance robustness against natural corruptions. Our sensitivity analysis on average runs 10 times faster and requires about 200 times less storage than previous sensitivity analysis, enabling practical, on-the-fly estimation during training for a model-free augmentation policy. With minimal fine-tuning, our sensitivity-guided augmentation method achieves improved robustness on both real-world and synthetic datasets compared to state-of-the-art data augmentation techniques in image segmentation.

Feature out! Let Raw Image as Your Condition for Blind Face Restoration

展开摘要

Blind face restoration (BFR), which involves converting low-quality (LQ) images into high-quality (HQ) images, remains challenging due to complex and unknown degradations. While previous diffusion-based methods utilize feature extractors from LQ images as guidance, using raw LQ images directly as the starting point for the reverse diffusion process offers a theoretically optimal solution. In this work, we propose Pseudo-Hashing Image-to-image Schrödinger Bridge (P-I2SB), a novel framework inspired by optimal mass transport problems, which enhances the restoration potential of Schrödinger Bridge (SB) by correcting data distributions and effectively learning the optimal transport path between any two data distributions. Notably, we theoretically explore and identify that existing methods are limited by the optimality and reversibility of solutions in SB, leading to suboptimal performance. Our approach involves preprocessing HQ images during training by hashing them into pseudo-samples according to a rule related to LQ images, ensuring structural similarity in distribution. This guarantees optimal and reversible solutions in SB, enabling the inference process to learn effectively and allowing P-I2SB to achieve state-of-the-art results in BFR, with more natural textures and retained inference speed compared to previous methods.

VTGaussian-SLAM: RGBD SLAM for Large Scale Scenes with Splatting View-Tied 3D Gaussians

Pengchong Hu, Zhizhong Han

展开摘要

Jointly estimating camera poses and mapping scenes from RGBD images is a fundamental task in simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM). State-of-the-art methods employ 3D Gaussians to represent a scene, and render these Gaussians through splatting for higher efficiency and better rendering. However, these methods cannot scale up to extremely large scenes, due to the inefficient tracking and mapping strategies that need to optimize all 3D Gaussians in the limited GPU memories throughout the training to maintain the geometry and color consistency to previous RGBD observations. To resolve this issue, we propose novel tracking and mapping strategies to work with a novel 3D representation, dubbed view-tied 3D Gaussians, for RGBD SLAM systems. View-tied 3D Gaussians is a kind of simplified Gaussians, which is tied to depth pixels, without needing to learn locations, rotations, and multi-dimensional variances. Tying Gaussians to views not only significantly saves storage but also allows us to employ many more Gaussians to represent local details in the limited GPU memory. Moreover, our strategies remove the need of maintaining all Gaussians learnable throughout the training, while improving rendering quality, and tracking accuracy. We justify the effectiveness of these designs, and report better performance over the latest methods on the widely used benchmarks in terms of rendering and tracking accuracy and scalability. Objective drives the consistency of representational similarity across datasets

Laure Ciernik, Lorenz Linhardt, Marco Morik, Jonas Dippel, Simon Kornblith, Lukas Muttenthaler

展开摘要

The Platonic Representation Hypothesis claims that recent foundation models are converging to a shared representation space as a function of their downstream task performance, irrespective of the objectives and data modalities used to train these models (Huh et al., 2024). Representational similarity is generally measured for individual datasets and is not necessarily consistent across datasets. Thus, one may wonder whether this convergence of model representations is confounded by the datasets commonly used in machine learning. Here, we propose a systematic way to measure how representational similarity between models varies with the set of stimuli used to construct the representations. We find that the objective function is a crucial factor in determining the consistency of representational similarities across datasets. Specifically, self-supervised vision models learn representations whose relative pairwise similarities generalize better from one dataset to another compared to those of image classification or image-text models. Moreover, the correspondence between representational similarities and the models' task behavior is dataset-dependent, being most strongly pronounced for single-domain datasets. Our work provides a framework for analyzing similarities of model representations across datasets and linking those similarities to differences in task behavior.

展开摘要

3D multiple object tracking (MOT) plays a crucial role in autonomous driving perception. Recent end-to-end query-based trackers simultaneously detect and track objects, which have shown promising potential for the 3D MOT task. However, existing methods are still in the early stages of development and lack systematic improvements, failing to track objects in certain complex scenarios, like occlusions and the small size of target object’s situations. In this paper, we first summarize the current end-to-end 3D MOT framework by decomposing it into three constituent parts: query initialization, query propagation, and query matching. Then we propose corresponding improvements, which lead to a strong yet simple tracker: S2-Track. Specifically, for query initialization, we present 2D-Prompted Query Initialization, which leverages predicted 2D object and depth information to prompt an initial estimate of the object’s 3D location. For query propagation, we introduce an Uncertainty-aware Probabilistic Decoder to capture the uncertainty of complex environment in object prediction with probabilistic attention. For query matching, we propose a Hierarchical Query Denoising strategy to enhance training robustness and convergence. As a result, our S2-Track achieves state-of-the-art performance on nuScenes benchmark, i.e., 66.3% AMOTA on test split, surpassing the previous best end-to-end solution by a significant margin of 8.9% AMOTA. We achieve 1st place on the nuScenes tracking task leaderboard.

展开摘要

Current Large Vision-Language Models (LVLMs) have demonstrated remarkable capabilities in understanding multimodal data, but their potential remains underexplored for deepfake detection due to the misalignment of their knowledge and forensics patterns. To this end, we present a novel framework that unlocks LVLMs' potential capabilities for deepfake detection. Our framework includes a Knowledge-guided Forgery Detector (KFD), a Forgery Prompt Learner (FPL), and a Large Language Model (LLM). The KFD is used to calculate correlations between image features and pristine/deepfake image description embeddings, enabling forgery classification and localization. The outputs of the KFD are subsequently processed by the Forgery Prompt Learner to construct fine-grained forgery prompt embeddings. These embeddings, along with visual and question prompt embeddings, are fed into the LLM to generate textual detection responses. Extensive experiments on multiple benchmarks, including FF++, CDF2, DFD, DFDCP, DFDC, and DF40, demonstrate that our scheme surpasses state-of-the-art methods in generalization performance, while also supporting multi-turn dialogue capabilities.
