DC-Solver: Improving Predictor-Corrector Diffusion Sampler via Dynamic Compensation

Wenliang Zhao, Haolin Wang, Jie Zhou, Jiwen Lu

展开摘要

"Diffusion probabilistic models (DPMs) have shown remarkable performance in visual synthesis but are computationally expensive due to the need for multiple evaluations during the sampling. Recent predictor-corrector diffusion samplers have significantly reduced the required number of function evaluations (NFE), but inherently suffer from a misalignment issue caused by the extra corrector step, especially with a large classifier-free guidance scale (CFG). In this paper, we introduce a new fast DPM sampler called DC-Solver, which leverages dynamic compensation (DC) to mitigate the misalignment of the predictor-corrector samplers. The dynamic compensation is controlled by compensation ratios that are adaptive to the sampling steps and can be optimized on only 10 datapoints by pushing the sampling trajectory toward a ground truth trajectory. We further propose a cascade polynomial regression (CPR) which can instantly predict the compensation ratios on unseen sampling configurations. Additionally, we find that the proposed dynamic compensation can also serve as a plug-and-play module to boost the performance of predictor-only samplers. Extensive experiments on both unconditional sampling and conditional sampling demonstrate that our DC-Solver can consistently improve the sampling quality over previous methods on different DPMs with a wide range of resolutions up to 1024×1024. Notably, we achieve 10.38 FID (NFE=5) on unconditional FFHQ and 0.394 MSE (NFE=5, CFG=7.5) on Stable-Diffusion-2.1. Code is available at https: //github.com/wl-zhao/DC-Solver."

DATENeRF: Depth-Aware Text-based Editing of NeRFs

展开摘要

"Recent diffusion models have demonstrated impressive capabilities for text-based 2D image editing. Applying similar ideas to edit a NeRF scene [?] remains challenging as editing 2D frames individually does not produce multiview-consistent results. We make the key observation that the geometry of a NeRF scene provides a way to unify these 2D edits. We leverage this geometry in depth-conditioned ControlNet [?] to improve the consistency of individual 2D image edits. Furthermore, we propose an inpainting scheme that uses the NeRF scene depth to propagate 2D edits across images while staying robust to errors and resampling issues. We demonstrate that this leads to more consistent, realistic and detailed editing results compared to previous state-of-the-art text-based NeRF editing methods."

展开摘要

"Infrared-visible object detection aims to achieve robust even full-day object detection by fusing the complementary information of infrared and visible images. However, highly dynamically variable complementary characteristics and commonly existing modality misalignment make the fusion of complementary information difficult. In this paper, we propose a Dynamic Adaptive Multispectral Detection Transformer (DAMSDet) to simultaneously address these two challenges. Specifically, we propose a Modality Competitive Query Selection strategy to provide useful prior information. This strategy can dynamically select basic salient modality feature representation for each object. To effectively mine the complementary information and adapt to misalignment situations, we propose a Multispectral Deformable Cross-attention module to adaptively sample and aggregate multi-semantic level features of infrared and visible images for each object. In addition, we further adopt the cascade structure of DETR to better mine complementary information. Experiments on four public datasets of different scenes demonstrate significant improvements compared to other state-of-the-art methods. The code will be released at https://github.com/gjj45/DAMSDet."

展开摘要

"Camera-only Bird’s Eye View (BEV) has demonstrated great potential in environment perception in a 3D space. However, most existing studies were conducted under a supervised setup which cannot scale well while handling various new data. Unsupervised domain adaptive BEV, which effective learning from various unlabelled target data, is far under-explored. In this work, we design DA-BEV, the first domain adaptive camera-only BEV framework that addresses domain adaptive BEV challenges by exploiting the complementary nature of image-view features and BEV features. DA-BEV introduces the idea of query into the domain adaptation framework to derive useful information from image-view and BEV features. It consists of two query-based designs, namely, query-based adversarial learning (QAL) and query-based self-training (QST), which exploits image-view features or BEV features to regularize the adaptation of the other. Extensive experiments show that DA-BEV achieves superior domain adaptive BEV perception performance consistently across multiple datasets and tasks such as 3D object detection and 3D scene segmentation."

展开摘要

"In this paper, we introduce D4 -VTON, an innovative solution for image-based virtual try-on. We address challenges from previous studies, such as semantic inconsistencies before and after garment warping, and reliance on static, annotation-driven clothing parsers. Additionally, we tackle the complexities in diffusion-based VTON models when handling simultaneous tasks like inpainting and denoising. Our approach utilizes two key technologies: Firstly, Dynamic Semantics Disentangling Modules (DSDMs) extract abstract semantic information from garments to create distinct local flows, improving precise garment warping in a self-discovered manner. Secondly, by integrating a Differential Information Tracking Path (DITP), we establish a novel diffusion-based VTON paradigm. This path captures differential information between incomplete try-on inputs and their complete versions, enabling the network to handle multiple degradations independently, thereby minimizing learning ambiguities and achieving realistic results with minimal overhead. Extensive experiments demonstrate that D4 -VTON significantly outperforms existing methods in both quantitative metrics and qualitative evaluations, demonstrating its capability in generating realistic images and ensuring semantic consistency. Code is available at https://github.com/Jerome-Young/D4-VTON."

展开摘要

"Reconstructing hand-held objects from a single RGB image is a challenging task in computer vision. In contrast to prior works that utilize deterministic modeling paradigms, we employ a point cloud denoising diffusion model to account for the probabilistic nature of this problem. In the core, we introduce centroid-fixed Dual-Stream Conditional diffusion for monocular hand-held object reconstruction (), tackling two predominant challenges. First, to avoid the object centroid from deviating, we utilize a novel hand-constrained centroid fixing paradigm, enhancing the stability of diffusion and reverse processes and the precision of feature projection. Second, we introduce a dual-stream denoiser to semantically and geometrically model hand-object interactions with a novel unified hand-object semantic embedding, enhancing the reconstruction performance of the hand-occluded region of the object. Experiments on the synthetic ObMan dataset and three real-world datasets HO3D, MOW and DexYCB demonstrate that our approach can surpass all other state-of-the-art methods."

展开摘要

"Recent pose-based gait recognition methods, which utilize human skeletons as the model input, have demonstrated significant potential in handling variations in clothing and occlusions. However, methods relying on such skeleton to encode pose are constrained mainly by two problems: (1) poor performance caused by the shape loss, and (2) lack of generalizability. Addressing these limitations, we revisit pose-based gait recognition and develop GaitHeat, a heatmap-based framework that largely enhances performance and robustness by utilizing a new modality to encode pose rather than keypoint coordinates. We make our efforts from two aspects, the pipeline and the extraction of multi-channel heatmap features. Specifically, the process of resizing and centering is performed in the RGB space to largely preserve the integrity of heatmap information. To boost the generalization across various datasets further, we propose a pose-guided heatmap alignment module to eliminate the influence of gait-irrelevant covariates. Furthermore, a global-local network incorporating an efficient fusion branch is designed to improve the extraction of semantic information. Compared to skeleton-based methods, GaitHeat exhibits superior performance in learning gait features and demonstrates effective generalization across different datasets. Experiments on three datasets reveal that our proposed method achieves state-of-the-art results for pose-based gait recognition, comparable to that of silhouette-based approaches. Customized Generation Reimagined: Fidelity and Editability Harmonized

Jian Jin, Yang Shen, Zhenyong Fu, Jian Yang

展开摘要

"Customized generation aims to incorporate a novel concept into a pre-trained text-to-image model, enabling new generations of the concept in novel contexts guided by textual prompts. However, customized generation suffers from an inherent trade-off between concept fidelity and editability, i.e., between precisely modeling the concept and faithfully adhering to the prompts. Previous methods reluctantly seek a compromise and struggle to achieve both high concept fidelity and ideal prompt alignment simultaneously. In this paper, we propose a “Divide, Conquer, then Integrate” (DCI) framework, which performs a surgical adjustment in the early stage of denoising to liberate the fine-tuned model from the fidelity-editability trade-off at inference. The two conflicting components in the trade-off are decoupled and individually conquered by two collaborative branches, which are then selectively integrated to preserve high concept fidelity while achieving faithful prompt adherence. To obtain a better fine-tuned model, we introduce an Image-specific Context Optimization (ICO) strategy for model customization. ICO replaces manual prompt templates with learnable image-specific contexts, providing an adaptive and precise fine-tuning direction to promote the overall performance. Extensive experiments demonstrate the effectiveness of our method in reconciling the fidelity-editability trade-off. Code is available at https://github.com/jinjianRick/DCI ICO."

展开摘要

"Image customization has been extensively studied in text-to-image (T2I) diffusion models, leading to impressive outcomes and applications. With the emergence of text-to-video (T2V) diffusion models, its temporal counterpart, motion customization, has not yet been well investigated. To address the challenge of one-shot video motion customization, we propose Customize-A-Video that models the motion from a single reference video and adapts it to new subjects and scenes with both spatial and temporal varieties. It leverages low-rank adaptation (LoRA) on temporal attention layers to tailor the pre-trained T2V diffusion model for specific motion modeling. To disentangle the spatial and temporal information during training, we introduce a novel concept of appearance absorbers that detach the original appearance from the reference video prior to motion learning. The proposed modules are trained in a staged pipeline and inferred in a plug-and-play fashion, enabling easy extensions to various downstream tasks such as custom video generation and editing, video appearance customization and multiple motion combination. "State-of-the-art diffusion models can generate highly realistic images based on various conditioning like text, segmentation, and depth. However, an essential aspect often overlooked is the specific camera geometry used during image capture. The influence of different optical systems on the final scene appearance is frequently overlooked. This study introduces a framework that intimately integrates a text-to-image diffusion model with the particular lens geometry used in image rendering. Our method is based on a per-pixel coordinate conditioning method, enabling the control over the rendering geometry. Notably, we demonstrate the manipulation of curvature properties, achieving diverse visual effects, such as fish-eye, panoramic views, and spherical texturing using a single diffusion model."

Cs2K: Class-specific and Class-shared Knowledge Guidance for Incremental Semantic Segmentation

Wei Cong, Yang Cong, Yuyang Liu, Gan Sun

展开摘要

"Incremental semantic segmentation endeavors to segment newly encountered classes while maintaining knowledge of old classes. However, existing methods either 1) lack guidance from class-specific knowledge (i.e., old class prototypes), leading to a bias towards new classes, or 2) constrain class-shared knowledge (i.e., old model weights) excessively without discrimination, resulting in a preference for old classes. In this paper, to trade off model performance, we propose the Class-specific and Class-shared Knowledge (Cs2 K) guidance for incremental semantic segmentation. Specifically, from the class-specific knowledge aspect, we design a prototype-guided pseudo labeling that exploits feature proximity from prototypes to correct pseudo labels, thereby overcoming catastrophic forgetting. Meanwhile, we develop a prototype-guided class adaptation that aligns class distribution across datasets via learning old augmented prototypes. Moreover, from the class-shared knowledge aspect, we propose a weight-guided selective consolidation to strengthen old memory while maintaining new memory by integrating old and new model weights based on weight importance relative to old classes. Experiments on public datasets demonstrate that our proposed Cs2 K significantly improves segmentation performance and is plug-and-play."

展开摘要

"Object detection is an important task that finds its application in a wide range of scenarios. Generally, it requires extensive labels for training, which is quite time-consuming, especially in crowded scenes. Recently, Segment Anything Model (SAM) has emerged as a powerful zero-shot segmenter, offering a novel approach to instance segmentation. However, the accuracy and efficiency of SAM and its variants are often compromised when handling objects in crowded scenes where occlusions often appear. In this paper, we propose Crowd-SAM, a SAM-based framework designed to enhance the performance of SAM in crowded scenes with the cost of few learnable parameters and minimal labeled images. We introduce an efficient prompt sampler (EPS) and a part-whole discrimination network (PWD-Net), facilitating mask selection and contributing to an improvement in accuracy in crowded scenes. Despite its simplicity, Crowd-SAM rivals state-of-the-art fully-supervised object detection methods on several benchmarks including CrowdHuman and CityPersons. CrossScore: A Multi-View Approach to Image Evaluation and Scoring

展开摘要

"We introduce a novel cross-reference image quality assessment method that effectively fills the gap in the image assessment landscape, complementing the array of established evaluation schemes – ranging from full-reference metrics like SSIM [?], no-reference metrics such as NIQE [?], to general-reference metrics including FID [?], and Multi-modal-reference metrics, CLIPScore [?]. Utilising a neural network with the cross-attention mechanism and a unique data collection pipeline from NVS optimisation, our method enables accurate image quality assessment without requiring ground truth references. By comparing a query image against multiple views of the same scene, our method addresses the limitations of existing metrics in novel view synthesis (NVS) and similar tasks where direct reference images are unavailable. Experimental results show that our method is closely correlated to the full-reference metric SSIM, while not requiring ground truth references."

CrossGLG: LLM Guides One-shot Skeleton-based 3D Action Recognition in a Cross-level Manner

展开摘要

"Most existing one-shot skeleton-based action recognition focuses on raw low-level information (, joint location), and may suffer from local information loss and low generalization ability. To alleviate these, we propose to leverage text description generated from large language models (LLM) that contain high-level human knowledge, to guide feature learning, in a global-local-global way. Particularly, during training, we design 2 prompts to gain global and local text descriptions of each action from an LLM. We first utilize the global text description to guide the skeleton encoder focus on informative joints (,global-to-local). Then we build non-local interaction between local text and joint features, to form the final global representation (, local-to-global). To mitigate the asymmetry issue between the training and inference phases, we further design a dual-branch architecture that allows the model to perform novel class inference without any text input, also making the additional inference cost neglectable compared with the base skeleton encoder. Extensive experiments on three different benchmarks show that CrossGLG consistently outperforms the existing SOTA methods with large margins, and the inference cost (model size) is only 2.8% than the previous SOTA. Code is available at [RGB]255,106,106CrossGLG. † Yang Xiao and Wenzheng Zeng are corresponding authors."

展开摘要

"Cross-view geolocalization identifies the geographic location of street view images by matching them with a georeferenced satellite database. Significant challenges arise due to the drastic appearance and geometry differences between views. In this paper, we propose a new approach for cross-view image geo-localization, i.e., the Panorama-BEV Co-Retrieval Network. Specifically, by utilizing the ground plane assumption and geometric relations, we convert street view panorama images into the BEV view, reducing the gap between street panoramas and satellite imagery. In the existing retrieval of street view panorama images and satellite images, we introduce BEV and satellite image retrieval branches for collaborative retrieval. By retaining the original street view retrieval branch, we overcome the limited perception range issue of BEV representation. Our network enables comprehensive perception of both the global layout and local details around the street view capture locations. Additionally, we introduce CVGlobal, a global cross-view dataset that is closer to real-world scenarios. This dataset adopts a more realistic setup, with street view directions not aligned with satellite images. CVGlobal also includes cross-regional, cross-temporal, and street view to map retrieval tests, enabling a comprehensive evaluation of algorithm performance. Our method excels in multiple tests on common cross-view datasets such as CVUSA, CVACT, VIGOR, and our newly introduced CVGlobal, surpassing the current state-of-the-art approaches. 展开摘要

"In this paper, we construct a large-scale benchmark dataset for Ground-to-Aerial Video-based person Re-Identification, named G2A-VReID, which comprises 185,907 images and 5,576 tracklets, featuring 2,788 distinct identities. To our knowledge, this is the first dataset for video ReID under Ground-to-Aerial scenarios. G2A-VReID dataset has the following characteristics: 1) Drastic view changes; 2) Large number of annotated identities; 3) Rich outdoor scenarios; 4) Huge difference in resolution. Additionally, we propose a new benchmark approach for cross-platform ReID by transforming the cross-platform visual alignment problem into visual-semantic alignment through vision-language model (i.e., CLIP) and applying a parameter-efficient Video Set-Level-Adapter module to adapt image-based foundation model to video ReID tasks, termed VSLA-CLIP. Besides, to further reduce the great discrepancy across the platforms, we also devise the platform-bridge prompts for efficient visual feature alignment. Extensive experiments demonstrate the superiority of the proposed method on all existing video ReID datasets and our proposed G2A-VReID dataset. Cross-Input Certified Training for Universal Perturbations

Changming Xu, Gagandeep Singh

展开摘要

"Existing work in trustworthy machine learning primarily focuses on single-input adversarial perturbations. In many real-world attack scenarios, input-agnostic adversarial attacks, e.g. universal adversarial perturbations (UAPs), are much more feasible. Current certified training methods train models robust to single-input perturbations but achieve suboptimal clean and UAP accuracy, thereby limiting their applicability in practical applications. We propose a novel method, , for certified training of networks robust against UAP attackers. We show in an extensive evaluation across different datasets, architectures, and perturbation magnitudes that our method outperforms traditional certified training methods on standard accuracy (up to 10.3%) and achieves SOTA performance on the more practical certified UAP accuracy metric."

Cross-Domain Semantic Segmentation on Inconsistent Taxonomy using VLMs

Jeongkee Lim, Yusung Kim

展开摘要

"The challenge of semantic segmentation in Unsupervised Domain Adaptation (UDA) emerges not only from domain shifts between source and target images but also from discrepancies in class taxonomies across domains. Traditional UDA research assumes consistent taxonomy between the source and target domains, thereby limiting their ability to recognize and adapt to the taxonomy of the target domain. This paper introduces a novel approach, Cross-Domain Semantic Segmentation on Inconsistent Taxonomy using Vision Language Models (CSI), which effectively performs domain-adaptive semantic segmentation even in situations of source-target class mismatches. CSI leverages the semantic generalization potential of Visual Language Models (VLMs) to create synergy with previous UDA methods. It leverages segment reasoning obtained through traditional UDA methods, combined with the rich semantic knowledge embedded in VLMs, to relabel new classes in the target domain. This approach allows for effective adaptation to extended taxonomies without requiring any ground truth label for the target domain. Our method has shown to be effective across various benchmarks in situations of inconsistent taxonomy settings (coarse-to-fine taxonomy and open taxonomy) and demonstrates consistent synergy effects when integrated with previous state-of-the-art UDA methods. The implementation is available at https://github.com/jkee58/CSI."

Cross-Domain Learning for Video Anomaly Detection with Limited Supervision

Yashika Jain, Ali Dabouei, Min Xu

展开摘要

"Video Anomaly Detection (VAD) automates the identification of unusual events, such as security threats in surveillance videos. In real-world applications, VAD models must effectively operate in cross-domain settings, identifying rare anomalies and scenarios not well-represented in the training data. However, existing cross-domain VAD methods focus on unsupervised learning, resulting in performance that falls short of real-world expectations. Since acquiring weak supervision, , video-level labels, for the source domain is cost-effective, we conjecture that combining it with external unlabeled data has notable potential to enhance cross-domain performance. To this end, we introduce a novel weakly-supervised framework for Cross-Domain Learning (CDL) in VAD that incorporates external data during training by estimating its prediction bias and adaptively minimizing that using the predicted uncertainty. We demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed CDL framework through comprehensive experiments conducted in various configurations on two large-scale VAD datasets: UCF-Crime and XD-Violence. Our method significantly surpasses the state-of-the-art works in cross-domain evaluations, achieving an average absolute improvement of 19.6% on UCF-Crime and 12.87% on XD-Violence."

Cross-Domain Few-Shot Object Detection via Enhanced Open-Set Object Detector

展开摘要

"This paper studies the challenging cross-domain few-shot object detection (CD-FSOD), aiming to develop an accurate object detector for novel domains with minimal labeled examples. While transformer-based open-set detectors, such as DE-ViT, show promise in traditional few-shot object detection, their generalization to CD-FSOD remains unclear: 1) can such open-set detection methods easily generalize to CD-FSOD? 2) If not, how can models be enhanced when facing huge domain gaps? To answer the first question, we employ measures including style, inter-class variance (ICV), and indefinable boundaries (IB) to understand the domain gap. Based on these measures, we establish a new benchmark named CD-FSOD to evaluate object detection methods, revealing that most of the current approaches fail to generalize across domains. Technically, we observe that the performance decline is associated with our proposed measures: style, ICV, and IB. Consequently, we propose several novel modules to address these issues. First, the learnable instance features align initial fixed instances with target categories, enhancing feature distinctiveness. Second, the instance reweighting module assigns higher importance to high-quality instances with slight IB. Third, the domain prompter encourages features resilient to different styles by synthesizing imaginary domains without altering semantic contents. These techniques collectively contribute to the development of the Cross-Domain Vision Transformer for CD-FSOD (CD-ViTO), significantly improving upon the base DE-ViT. Experimental results validate the efficacy of our model. Datasets and codes are available at http://yuqianfu.com/CDFSOD-benchmark."
