CaMuViD: Calibration-Free Multi-View Detection

Amir Etefaghi Daryani, M. Usman Maqbool Bhutta, Byron Hernandez, Henry Medeiros

展开摘要

Multi-view object detection in crowded environments presents significant challenges, particularly for occlusion management across multiple camera views. This paper introduces a novel approach that extends conventional multi-view detection to operate directly within each camera's image space. Our method finds objects bounding boxes for images from various perspectives without resorting to a bird's eye view (BEV) representation. Thus, our approach removes the need for camera calibration by leveraging a learnable architecture that facilitates flexible transformations and improves feature fusion across perspectives to increase detection accuracy. Our model achieves Multi-Object Detection Accuracy (MODA) scores of 95.0% and 96.5% on the Wildtrack and MultiviewX datasets, respectively, significantly advancing the state of the art in multi-view detection. Furthermore, it demonstrates robust performance even without ground truth annotations, highlighting its resilience and practicality in real-world applications. These results emphasize the effectiveness of our calibration-free, multi-view object detector.

CLOC: Contrastive Learning for Ordinal Classification with Multi-Margin N-pair Loss

展开摘要

In ordinal classification, misclassifying neighboring ranks is common, yet the consequences of these errors are not the same. For example, misclassifying benign tumor categories is less consequential, compared to an error at the pre-cancerous to cancerous threshold, which could profoundly influence treatment choices. Despite this, existing ordinal classification methods do not account for the varying importance of these margins, treating all neighboring classes as equally significant. To address this limitation, we propose CLOC, a new margin-based contrastive learning method for ordinal classification that learns an ordered representation based on the optimization of multiple margins with a novel multi-margin n-pair loss (MMNP).CLOC enables flexible decision boundaries across key adjacent categories, facilitating smooth transitions between classes and reducing the risk of overfitting to biases present in the training data.We provide empirical discussion regarding the properties of MMNP and show experimental results on five real-world image datasets (Adience, Historical Colour Image Dating, Knee Osteoarthritis, Indian Diabetic Retinopathy Image, and Breast Carcinoma Subtyping) and one synthetic dataset simulating clinical decision bias. Our results demonstrate that CLOC outperforms existing ordinal classification methods and show the interpretability and controllability of CLOC in learning meaningful, ordered representations that align with clinical and practical needs.

展开摘要

Reconstructing photorealistic and dynamic portrait avatars from images is essential to many applications including advertising, visual effects, and virtual reality. Depending on the application, avatar reconstruction involves different capture setups and constraints -- for example, visual effects studios use camera arrays to capture hundreds of reference images, while content creators may seek to animate a single portrait image downloaded from the internet. As such, there is a large and heterogeneous ecosystem of methods for avatar reconstruction. Techniques based on multi-view stereo or neural rendering achieve the highest quality results, but require hundreds of reference images. Recent generative models produce convincing avatars from a single reference image, but visual fidelity lags behind multi-view techniques. Here, we present CAP4D: an approach that uses a morphable multi-view diffusion model to reconstruct photoreal 4D (dynamic 3D) portrait avatars from any number of reference images (i.e., one to 100) and animate and render them in real time. Our approach demonstrates state-of-the-art performance for single-, few-, and multi-image 4D portrait avatar reconstruction, and takes steps to bridge the gap in visual fidelity between single-image and multi-view reconstruction techniques.

展开摘要

Language and binocular vision play a crucial role in human understanding of the world. Advancements in artificial intelligence have also made it possible for machines to develop 3D perception capabilities essential for high-level scene understanding. However, only monocular cameras are often available in practice due to cost and space constraints. Enabling machines to achieve accurate 3D understanding from a monocular view is practical but presents significant challenges. We introduce MonoMulti-3DVG, a novel task aimed at achieving multi-object 3D Visual Grounding (3DVG) based on monocular RGB images, allowing machines to better understand and interact with the 3D world. To this end, we construct a large-scale benchmark dataset, MonoMulti3D-ROPE, and propose a model, CyclopsNet that integrates a State-Prompt Visual Encoder (SPVE) module with a Denoising Alignment Fusion (DAF) module to achieve robust multi-modal semantic alignment and fusion. This leads to more stable and robust multi-modal joint representations for downstream tasks. Experimental results show that our method significantly outperforms existing techniques on the MonoMulti3D-ROPE dataset. Our dataset and code are available at https://github.com/JasonHuang516/MonoMulti-3DVG

展开摘要

Recent advances in garment-centric image generation from text and image prompts based on diffusion models are impressive. However, existing methods lack support for various combinations of attire, and struggle to preserve the garment details while maintaining faithfulness to the text prompts, limiting their performance across diverse scenarios. In this paper, we focus on a new task, i.e., Multi-Garment Virtual Dressing, and we propose a novel AnyDressing method for customizing characters conditioned on any combination of garments and any personalized text prompts. AnyDressing primarily comprises two primary networks named GarmentsNet and DressingNet, which are respectively dedicated to extracting detailed clothing features and generating customized images. Specifically, we propose an efficient and scalable module called Garment-Specific Feature Extractor in GarmentsNet to individually encode garment textures in parallel. This design prevents garment confusion while ensuring network efficiency. Meanwhile, we design an adaptive Dressing-Attention mechanism and a novel Instance-Level Garment Localization Learning strategy in DressingNet to accurately inject multi-garment features into their corresponding regions. This approach efficiently integrates multi-garment texture cues into generated images and further enhances text-image consistency. Additionally, we introduce a Garment-Enhanced Texture Learning strategy to improve the fine-grained texture details of garments. Thanks to our well-craft design, AnyDressing can serve as a plug-in module to easily integrate with any community control extensions for diffusion models, improving the diversity and controllability of synthesized images. Extensive experiments show that AnyDressing achieves state-of-the-art results.

展开摘要

The capability of tracking objects in low-light environments like nighttime is crucial for numerous real-world applications such as crowd behavior analysis and traffic scene understanding. However, previous Multi-Camera Multi-Target(MCMT) tracking methods are primarily focused on tracking during daytime with favorable lighting, shying away from low-light environments. The main difficulty of tracking under low light condition is lack of detailed visible appearance features. To address this issue, we incorporate the infrared modality into MCMT tracking framework to provide more useful information. We constructed the first Multi-modality(RGBT) Multi-camera Multi-target tracking dataset named M3Track, which contains sequences captured in low-light environments, laying a solid foundation for all-day multi-camera tracking. Based on the proposed dataset, we propose All-Day Multi-Camera Multi-Target tracking network, termed as ADMCMT. Specifically, we propose an All-Day Mamba Fusion(ADMF) model to adaptively fuse information from different modalities. Within ADMF, the Lighting Guidance Model(IGM) extracts lighting relevant information to guide the fusion process. Furthermore, the Nearby Target Collection(NTC) strategy is designed to enhance tracking accuracy by leveraging information derived from surrounding objects of target. Experiments conducted on M3Track demonstrate that ADMCMT exhibits strong generalization across different lighting conditions. The code will be released soon at https://github.com/QTRACKY/ADMCMT.

展开摘要

Visual layouts are essential in graphic design fields such as advertising, posters, and web interfaces. The application of generative models for content-aware layout generation has recently gained traction. However, these models fail to understand the contextual aesthetic requirements of layout design and do not align with human-like preferences, primarily treating it as a prediction task without considering the final rendered output. To overcome these problems, we offer Aesthetic-Aware Preference Alignment (AAPA), a novel technique to train a Multi-modal Large Language Model (MLLM) for layout prediction that uses MLLM's aesthetic preferences for Direct Preference Optimization over graphic layouts. We propose a data filtering protocol utilizing our layout-quality heuristics for AAPA to ensure training happens on high-quality layouts. Additionally, we introduce a novel evaluation metric that uses another MLLM to compute the win rate of the generated layout against the ground-truth layout based on aesthetics criteria. We also demonstrate the applicability of AAPA for MLLMs of varying scales (1B to 8B parameters) and LLM families (Qwen, Phi, InternLM). By conducting thorough qualitative and quantitative analyses, we verify the efficacy of our approach on two challenging benchmarks - Crello and Webui, showcasing 17%, and 16% improvement over current State-of-The-Art methods, thereby highlighting the potential of MLLMs in aesthetic-aware layout generation.

AdaptCMVC: Robust Adaption to Incremental Views in Continual Multi-view Clustering

展开摘要

Most Multi-view Clustering approaches assume that all views are available for clustering. However, this assumption is often unrealistic as views are incrementally accumulated over time, leading to a need for continual multi-view clustering (CMVC) methods. Current approaches to CMVC leverage late fusion-based approaches, where a new model is typically learned individually for each view to obtain the corresponding partition matrix, and then used to update a consensus matrix via a moving average. These approaches are prone to view-specific noise and struggle to adapt to large gaps between different views. To address these shortcomings, we reconsider CMVC from the perspective of domain adaptation and propose AdaptCMVC, which learns how to incrementally accumulate knowledge of new views as they become available and prevents catastrophic forgetting. Specifically, a self-training framework is introduced to extend the model to new views, particularly designed to be robust to view-specific noise. Further, to combat catastrophic forgetting, a structure alignment mechanism is proposed to enable the model to explore the global group structure across multiple views. Experiments on several multi-view benchmarks demonstrate the effectiveness of our proposed method on the CMVC task. The code is available at: AdaptCMVC.

展开摘要

While recent work in scene reconstruction and understanding has made strides in grounding natural language to physical 3D environments, it is still challenging to ground abstract, high-level instructions to a 3D scene. High-level instructions might not explicitly invoke semantic elements in the scene, and even the process of breaking a high-level task into a set of more concrete subtasks --a process called hierarchical task analysis-- is environment-dependent. In this work, we propose ASHiTA, the first framework that generates a task hierarchy grounded to a 3D scene graph by breaking down high-level tasks into grounded subtasks. ASHiTA alternates LLM-assisted hierarchical task analysis --to generate the task breakdown-- with task-driven scene graph construction to generate a suitable representation of the environment. Our experiments show that ASHiTA performs significantly better than LLM baselines in breaking down high-level tasks into environment-dependent subtasks and is additionally able to achieve grounding performance comparable to state-of-the-art methods

展开摘要

Multi-layer image generation is a fundamental task that enables users to isolate, select, and edit specific image layers, thereby revolutionizing interactions with generative models. In this paper, we introduce the Anonymous Region Transformer (ART), which facilitates the direct generation of variable multi-layer transparent images based on a global text prompt and an anonymous region layout. Inspired by Schema theory, this anonymous region layout allows the generative model to autonomously determine which set of visual tokens should align with which text tokens, which is in contrast to the previously dominant semantic layout for the image generation task. In addition, the layer-wise region crop mechanism, which only selects the visual tokens belonging to each anonymous region, significantly reduces attention computation costs and enables the efficient generation of images with numerous distinct layers (e.g., 50+). When compared to the full attention approach, our method is over 12 times faster and exhibits fewer layer conflicts. Furthermore, we propose a high-quality multi-layer transparent image autoencoder that supports the direct encoding and decoding of the transparency of variable multi-layer images in a joint manner. By enabling precise control and scalable layer generation, ART establishes a new paradigm for interactive content creation.

展开摘要

Despite advances in neural rendering, due to the scarcity of high-quality 3D datasets and the inherent limitations of multi-view diffusion models, view synthesis and 3D model generation are restricted to low resolutions with suboptimal multi-view consistency. In this study, we present a novel 3D enhancement pipeline, dubbed 3DEnhancer, which employs a multi-view latent diffusion model to enhance coarse 3D inputs while preserving multi-view consistency. Our method includes a pose-aware encoder and a diffusion-based denoiser to refine low-quality multi-view images, along with data augmentation and a multi-view attention module with epipolar aggregation to maintain consistent, high-quality 3D outputs across views. Unlike existing video-based approaches, our model supports seamless multi-view enhancement with improved coherence across diverse viewing angles. Extensive evaluations show that 3DEnhancer significantly outperforms existing methods, boosting both multi-view enhancement and per-instance 3D optimization tasks.

3D Prior Is All You Need: Cross-Task Few-shot 2D Gaze Estimation

展开摘要

3D and 2D gaze estimation share the fundamental objective of capturing eye movements but are traditionally treated as two distinct research domains. In this paper, we introduce a novel cross-task few-shot 2D gaze estimation approach, aiming to adapt a pre-trained 3D gaze estimation network for 2D gaze prediction on unseen devices using only a few training images. This task is highly challenging due to the domain gap between 3D and 2D gaze, unknown screen poses, and limited training data. To address these challenges, we propose a novel framework that bridges the gap between 3D and 2D gaze. Our framework contains a physics-based differentiable projection module with learnable parameters to model screen poses and project 3D gaze into 2D gaze. The framework is fully differentiable and can integrate into existing 3D gaze networks without modifying their original architecture. Additionally, we introduce a dynamic pseudo-labelling strategy for flipped images, which is particularly challenging for 2D labels due to unknown screen poses. To overcome this, we reverse the projection process by converting 2D labels to 3D space, where flipping is performed. Notably, this 3D space is not aligned with the camera coordinate system, so we learn a dynamic transformation matrix to compensate for this misalignment. We evaluate our method on MPIIGaze, EVE, and GazeCapture datasets, collected respectively on laptops, desktop computers, and mobile devices. The superior performance highlights the effectiveness of our approach, and demonstrates its strong potential for real-world applications.

展开摘要

3D intraoral scan mesh is widely used in digital dentistry diagnosis, segmenting 3D intraoral scan mesh is a critical preliminary task. Numerous approaches have been devised for precise tooth segmentation. Currently, the deep learning-based methods are capable of the high accuracy segmentation of crown. However, the segmentation accuracy at the junction between the crown and the gum is still below average. Existing down-sampling methods are unable to effectively preserve the geometric details at the junction. To address these problems, we propose CrossTooth, a boundary-preserving segmentation method that combines 3D mesh selective downsampling to retain more vertices at the tooth-gingiva area, along with cross-modal discriminative boundary features extracted from multi-view rendered images, enhancing the geometric representation of the segmentation network. Using a point network as a backbone and incorporating image complementary features, CrossTooth significantly improves segmentation accuracy, as demonstrated by experiments on a public intraoral scan dataset.
