展开摘要

Leveraging the generative power of diffusion models, generative image compression has achieved impressive perceptual fidelity even at extremely low bitrates. However, current methods often neglect the non-uniform complexity of images, limiting their ability to balance global perceptual quality with local texture consistency and to allocate coding resources efficiently. To address this, we introduce the Map-guided Masking Realism Image Diffusion Codec(MRIDC), designed to optimize the trade-off between local distortion and global perceptual quality in extreme-low bitrate compression. MRIDC integrates a vector-quantized image encoder with a diffusion-based decoder. On the encoding side, we propose a Map-guided Latent Masking(MLM) module, which selectively masks elements in the latent space based on prior information, allowing adaptive resource allocation aligned with image complexity. On the decoding side, masked latents are completed using the Bidirectional Prediction Controllable Generation(BPCG) module, which guides the constrained generation process within the diffusion model to reconstruct the image. Experimental results show that MRIDC achieves state-of-the-art perceptual compression quality at extremely low bitrates, effectively preserving feature consistency in key regions and advancing the rate-distortion-perception performance curve, establishing new benchmarks in balancing compression efficiency with visual fidelity.

展开摘要

Decompositional reconstruction of 3D scenes, with complete shapes and detailed texture of all objects within, is intriguing for downstream applications but remains challenging, particularly with sparse views as input. Recent approaches incorporate semantic or geometric regularization to address this issue, but they suffer significant degradation in underconstrained areas and fail to recover occluded regions. We argue that the key to solving this problem lies in supplementing missing information for these areas. To this end, we propose DP-Recon, which employs diffusion priors in the form of Score Distillation Sampling (SDS) to optimize the neural representation of each individual object under novel views. This provides additional information for the underconstrained areas, but directly incorporating diffusion prior raises potential conflicts between the reconstruction and generative guidance. Therefore, we further introduce a visibility-guided approach to dynamically adjust the per-pixel SDS loss weights. Together these components enhance both geometry and appearance recovery while remaining faithful to input images. Extensive experiments across Replica and ScanNet++ demonstrate that our method significantly outperforms state-of-the-art methods. Notably, it achieves better object reconstruction under 10 views than the baselines under 100 views. Our method enables seamless text-based editing for geometry and appearance through SDS optimization and produces decomposed object meshes with detailed UV maps that support photorealistic Visual effects (VFX) editing. 展开摘要

The intellectual property of deep image-to-image models can be protected by the so-called box-free watermarking. It uses an encoder and a decoder, respectively, to embed into and extract from the model's output images invisible copyright marks. Prior works have improved watermark robustness, focusing on the design of better watermark encoders. In this paper, we reveal an overlooked vulnerability of the unprotected watermark decoder which is jointly trained with the encoder and can be exploited to train a watermark removal network. To defend against such an attack, we propose the decoder gradient shield (DGS) as a protection layer in the decoder API to prevent gradient-based watermark removal with a closed-form solution. The fundamental idea is inspired by the classical adversarial attack, but is utilized for the first time as a defensive mechanism in the box-free model watermarking. We then demonstrate that DGS can reorient and rescale the gradient directions of watermarked queries and stop the watermark remover's training loss from converging to the level without DGS, while retaining decoder output image quality. Experimental results verify the effectiveness of the proposed method. Code of paper is available at https://github.com/haonanAN309/CVPR-2025-Official-Implementation-Decoder-Gradient-Shield.

Decision SpikeFormer: Spike-Driven Transformer for Decision Making

展开摘要

Offline reinforcement learning (RL) enables policy training solely on pre-collected data, avoiding direct environment interaction--a crucial benefit for energy-constrained embodied AI applications. Although Artificial Neural Networks (ANN)-based methods perform well in offline RL, their high computational and energy demands motivate exploration of more efficient alternatives. Spiking Neural Networks (SNNs) show promise for such tasks, given their low power consumption. In this work, we introduce DSFormer, the first spike-driven transformer model designed to tackle offline RL via sequence modeling. Unlike existing SNN transformers focused on spatial dimensions for vision tasks, we develop Temporal Spiking Self-Attention (TSSA) and Positional Spiking Self-Attention (PSSA) in DSFormer to capture the temporal and positional dependencies essential for sequence modeling in RL. Additionally, we propose Progressive Threshold-dependent Batch Normalization (PTBN), which combines the benefits of LayerNorm and BatchNorm to preserve temporal dependencies while maintaining the spiking nature of SNNs. Comprehensive results in the D4RL benchmark show DSFormer's superiority over both SNN and ANN counterparts, achieving 78.4% energy savings, highlighting DSFormer's advantages not only in energy efficiency but also in competitive performance. Decentralized Diffusion Models

展开摘要

Large-scale AI model training divides work across thousands of GPUs then synchronizes gradients across them at each step. This incurs a significant network burden that only centralized, monolithic clusters can support, driving up infrastructure costs and straining power systems. We propose Decentralized Diffusion Models, a scalable framework to distribute diffusion model training across independent clusters or datacenters by eliminating the dependence on a centralized, high-bandwidth networking fabric. Our method trains a set of expert diffusion models over partitions of the dataset, each in full isolation from one another. At inference time, they ensemble through a lightweight router. We show that this ensemble collectively optimizes the same objective as a single model trained over the whole dataset. This means we can divide the training burden among a number of "compute islands," lowering infrastructure costs and improving resilience to localized GPU failures. Decentralized diffusion models empower researchers to take advantage of smaller, more cost-effective and more readily available compute like on-demand GPU nodes rather than central integrated systems. We conduct extensive experiments on ImageNet and LAION Aesthetics, showing that decentralized diffusion models FLOP-for-FLOP outperform standard diffusion models. We finally scale our approach to 24 billion parameters, demonstrating that high-quality diffusion models can now be trained with just eight individual GPU nodes in less than a week.

展开摘要

Multimodal Large Language Models (MLLMs) excel in various tasks, yet often struggle with modality bias, tending to rely heavily on a single modality or prior knowledge when generating responses. In this paper, we propose a debiased preference optimization dataset, RLAIF-V-Bias, and introduce a Noise-Aware Preference Optimization (NAPO) algorithm. Specifically, we first construct the dataset by introducing perturbations to reduce the informational content of certain modalities, prompting the model to overly rely on a specific modality when generating responses. To address the inevitable noise in automatically constructed data, we combine the noise-robust Mean Absolute Error (MAE) with the Binary Cross-Entropy (BCE) in Direct Preference Optimization (DPO) using a negative Box-Cox transformation and dynamically adjust the algorithm's noise robustness based on the evaluated noise levels in the data.Extensive experiments validate our approach, demonstrating not only its effectiveness in mitigating modality bias but also its significant role in minimizing hallucinations.

De^2Gaze: Deformable and Decoupled Representation Learning for 3D Gaze Estimation

Yunfeng Xiao, Xiaowei Bai, Baojun Chen, Hao Su, Hao He, Liang Xie, Erwei Yin

展开摘要

3D Gaze estimation is a challenging task due to two main issues. First, existing methods focus on analyzing dense features (e.g., large pixel regions), which are sensitive to local noise (e.g., light spots, blurs) and result in increased computational complexity. Second, an eyeball model can correspond multiple gaze directions, and the entangled representation between gazes and models increases the learning difficulty. To address these issues, we propose De\textsuperscript 2Gaze , a lightweight and accurate model-aware 3D gaze estimation method. In De\textsuperscript 2 Gaze, we introduce two key innovations for deformable and decoupled representation learning. Specifically, first, we propose a deformable sparse attention mechanism that can adapt sparse sampling points to attention areas to avoid local noise influences. Second, we propose a spatial decoupling network with a dual-branch decoding architecture to disentangle invariant (e.g., eyeball radius, position) and variable (e.g., gaze, pupil, iris) features from the latent space. Compared to existing methods, De\textsuperscript 2 Gaze requires fewer sparse features, and achieves faster convergence speed, lower computational complexity, and higher accuracy in 3D gaze estimation.Qualitative and quantitative experiments demonstrate that De\textsuperscript 2 Gaze achieves state-of-the-art accuracy and high-quality semantic segmentation for 3D gaze estimation on the TEyeD dataset.

展开摘要

Gaussian splatting enables fast novel view synthesis in static 3D environments. However, reconstructing real-world environments remains challenging as distractors or occluders break the multi-view consistency assumption required for accurate 3D reconstruction. Most existing methods rely on external semantic information from pre-trained models, introducing additional computational overhead as pre-processing steps or during optimization. In this work, we propose a novel method, DeSplat, that directly separates distractors and static scene elements purely based on volume rendering of Gaussian primitives. We initialize Gaussians within each camera view for reconstructing the view-specific distractors to separately model the static 3D scene and distractors in the alpha compositing stages. DeSplat yields an explicit scene separation of static elements and distractors, achieving comparable results to prior distractor-free approaches without sacrificing rendering speed. We demonstrate DeSplat's effectiveness on three benchmark data sets for distractor-free novel view synthesis. See the project website at https://aaltoml.github.io/desplat/.

展开摘要

We present DeSiRe-GS, a self-supervised gaussian splatting representation, enabling effective static-dynamic decomposition and high-fidelity surface reconstruction in complex driving scenarios. Our approach employs a two-stage optimization pipeline of dynamic street Gaussians. In the first stage, we extract 2D motion masks based on the observation that 3D Gaussian Splatting inherently can reconstruct only the static regions in dynamic environments. These extracted 2D motion priors are then mapped into the Gaussian space in a differentiable manner, leveraging an efficient formulation of dynamic Gaussians in the second stage. Combined with the introduced geometric regularizations, our method are able to address the over-fitting issues caused by data sparsity in autonomous driving, reconstructing physically plausible Gaussians that align with object surfaces rather than floating in air. Furthermore, we introduce temporal cross-view consistency to ensure coherence across time and viewpoints, resulting in high-quality surface reconstruction. Comprehensive experiments demonstrate the efficiency and effectiveness of DeSiRe-GS, surpassing prior self-supervised arts and achieving accuracy comparable to methods relying on external 3D bounding box annotations.

展开摘要

Upcycled Mixture-of-Experts (MoE) models have shown great potential in various tasks by converting the original Feed-Forward Network (FFN) layers in pre-trained dense models into MoE layers. However, these models still suffer from significant parameter inefficiency due to the introduction of multiple experts. In this work, we propose a novel DeRS (Decompose, Replace, and Synthesis) paradigm to overcome this shortcoming, which is motivated by our observations about the unique redundancy mechanisms of upcycled MoE experts. Specifically, DeRS decomposes the experts into one expert-shared base weight and multiple expert-specific delta weights, and subsequently represents these delta weights in lightweight forms. Our proposed DeRS paradigm can be applied to enhance parameter efficiency in two different scenarios, including: 1) DeRS Compression for inference stage, using sparsification or quantization to compress vanilla upcycled MoE models; and 2) DeRS Upcycling for training stage, employing lightweight sparse or low-rank matrixes to efficiently upcycle dense models into MoE models. Extensive experiments across three different tasks show that the proposed methods can achieve extreme parameter efficiency while maintaining the performance for both training and compression of upcycled MoE models.

展开摘要

This paper presents Deformable Neural Vessel Representations (DeNVeR), an unsupervised approach for vessel segmentation in X-ray angiography videos without annotated ground truth. DeNVeR utilizes optical flow and layer separation techniques, enhancing segmentation accuracy and adaptability through test-time training. Key contributions include a novel layer separation bootstrapping technique, a parallel vessel motion loss, and the integration of Eulerian motion fields for modeling complex vessel dynamics. A significant component of this research is the introduction of the XACV dataset, the first X-ray angiography coronary video dataset with high-quality, manually labeled segmentation ground truth. Extensive evaluations on both XACV and CADICA datasets demonstrate that DeNVeR outperforms current state-of-the-art methods in vessel segmentation accuracy and generalization capability while maintaining temporal coherency. DeDe: Detecting Backdoor Samples for SSL Encoders via Decoders

Sizai Hou, Songze Li, Duanyi YAO

展开摘要

Self-supervised learning (SSL) is pervasively exploited in training high-quality upstream encoders with a large amount of unlabeled data. However, it is found to be susceptible to backdoor attacks merely via polluting a small portion of training data. The victim encoders associate triggered inputs with target embeddings, e.g., mapping a triggered cat image to an airplane embedding, such that the downstream tasks inherit unintended behaviors when the trigger is activated. Emerging backdoor attacks have shown great threats across different SSL paradigms such as contrastive learning and CLIP, yet limited research is devoted to defending against such attacks, and existing defenses fall short in detecting advanced stealthy backdoors. To address the limitations, we propose a novel detection mechanism, DeDe, which detects the activation of backdoor mappings caused by triggered inputs on victim encoders. Specifically, DeDe trains a decoder for any given SSL encoder using an auxiliary dataset (which can be out-of-distribution or even slightly poisoned), so that for any triggered input that misleads the encoder into the target embedding, the decoder generates an output image significantly different from the input. DeDe leverages the discrepancy between the input and the decoded output to identify potential backdoor misbehavior during inference. We empirically evaluate DeDe on both contrastive learning and CLIP models against various types of backdoor attacks. Our results demonstrate promising detection effectiveness over various advanced attacks and superior performance compared over state-of-the-art detection methods.

DeClotH: Decomposable 3D Cloth and Human Body Reconstruction from a Single Image

展开摘要

Most existing methods of 3D clothed human reconstruction from a single image treat the clothed human as a single object without distinguishing between cloth and human body. In this regard, we present DeClotH, which separately reconstructs 3D cloth and human body from a single image. This task remains largely unexplored due to the extreme occlusion between cloth and the human body, making it challenging to infer accurate geometries and textures. Moreover, while recent 3D human reconstruction methods have achieved impressive results using text-to-image diffusion models, directly applying such an approach to this problem often leads to incorrect guidance, particularly in reconstructing 3D cloth. To address these challenges, we propose two core designs in our framework. First, to alleviate the occlusion issue, we leverage 3D template models of cloth and human body as regularizations, which provide strong geometric priors to prevent erroneous reconstruction by the occlusion. Second, we introduce a cloth diffusion model specifically designed to provide contextual information about cloth appearance, thereby enhancing the reconstruction of 3D cloth. Qualitative and quantitative experiments demonstrate that our proposed approach is highly effective in reconstructing both 3D cloth and the human body.

展开摘要

Long Video Temporal Grounding (LVTG) aims at identifying specific moments within lengthy videos based on user-provided text queries for effective content retrieval. The approach taken by existing methods of dividing video into clips and processing each clip via a full-scale expert encoder is challenging to scale due to prohibitive computational costs of processing a large number of clips in long videos. To address this issue, we introduce DeCafNet, an approach employing "delegate-and-conquer" strategy to achieve computation efficiency without sacrificing grounding performance. DeCafNet introduces a sidekick encoder that performs dense feature extraction over all video clips in a resource-efficient manner, while generating a saliency map to identify the most relevant clips for full processing by the expert encoder. To effectively leverage features from sidekick and expert encoders that exist at different temporal resolutions, we introduce DeCaf-Grounder, which unifies and refines them via query-aware temporal aggregation and multi-scale temporal refinement for accurate grounding. Experiments on two LTVG benchmark datasets demonstrate that DeCafNet reduces computation by up to 47% while still outperforming existing methods, establishing a new state-of-the-art for LTVG in terms of both efficiency and performance.

DeCLIP: Decoupled Learning for Open-Vocabulary Dense Perception

展开摘要

Dense visual prediction tasks have been constrained by their reliance on predefined categories, limiting their applicability in real-world scenarios where visual concepts are unbounded. While Vision-Language Models (VLMs) like CLIP have shown promise in open-vocabulary tasks, their direct application to dense prediction often leads to suboptimal performance due to limitations in local feature representation. In this work, we present our observation that CLIP's image tokens struggle to effectively aggregate information from spatially or semantically related regions, resulting in features that lack local discriminability and spatial consistency. To address this issue, we propose DeCLIP, a novel framework that enhances CLIP by decoupling the self-attention module to obtain "content" and "context" features respectively. The "content" features are aligned with image crop representations to improve local discriminability, while "context" features learn to retain the spatial correlations under the guidance of vision foundation models, such as DINO. Extensive experiments demonstrate that DeCLIP significantly outperforms existing methods across multiple open-vocabulary dense prediction tasks, including object detection and semantic segmentation. Data-free Universal Adversarial Perturbation with Pseudo-semantic Prior

Chanhui Lee, Yeonghwan Song, Jeany Son

展开摘要

Data-free Universal Adversarial Perturbation (UAP) is an image-agnostic adversarial attack that deceives deep neural networks using a single perturbation generated solely from random noise without relying on data priors. However, traditional data-free UAP methods often suffer from limited transferability due to the absence of semantic content in random noise. To address this issue, we propose a novel data-free universal attack method that recursively extracts pseudo-semantic priors directly from the UAPs during training to enrich the semantic content within the data-free UAP framework. Our approach effectively leverages latent semantic information within UAPs via region sampling, enabling successful input transformations--typically ineffective in traditional data-free UAP methods due to the lack of semantic cues--and significantly enhancing black-box transferability. Furthermore, we introduce a sample reweighting technique to mitigate potential imbalances from random sampling and transformations, emphasizing hard examples less affected by the UAPs. Comprehensive experiments on ImageNet show that our method achieves state-of-the-art performance in average fooling rate by a substantial margin, notably improves attack transferability across various CNN architectures compared to existing data-free UAP methods, and even surpasses data-dependent UAP methods. Data-Free Group-Wise Fully Quantized Winograd Convolution via Learnable Scales

展开摘要

Despite the revolutionary breakthroughs of large-scale text-to-image diffusion models for complex vision and downstream tasks, their extremely high computational and storage costs limit their usability. Quantization of diffusion models has been explored in recent works to reduce compute costs and memory bandwidth usage. To further improve inference time, fast convolution algorithms such as Winograd can be used for convolution layers, which account for a significant portion of computations in diffusion models. However, the significant quality loss of fully quantized Winograd using existing coarser-grained post-training quantization methods, combined with the complexity and cost of finetuning the Winograd transformation matrices for such large models to recover quality, makes them unsuitable for large-scale foundation models. Motivated by the presence of a large range of values in them, we investigate the impact of finer-grained group-wise quantization in quantizing diffusion models. While group-wise quantization can largely handle the fully quantized Winograd convolution, it struggles to deal with the large distribution imbalance in a sizable portion of the Winograd domain computation. To reduce range differences in the Winograd domain, we propose finetuning only the scale parameters of the Winograd transform matrices without using any domain-specific training data. Because our method does not depend on any training data, the generalization performance of quantized diffusion models is safely guaranteed. For text-to-image generation task, the 8-bit fully-quantized diffusion model with Winograd provides near-lossless quality (FID and CLIP scores) in comparison to the full-precision model. This, coupled with the development of highly optimized kernels for group-wise fully quantized Winograd, improves CPU wall-clock time by 31.3% when compared to the convolution layers of a diffusion model. For image classification, our method outperforms the state-of-the-art Winograd PTQ method by 1.62% and 2.56% in top-1 ImageNet accuracy on ResNet-18 and ResNet-34, respectively, with Winograd F(6, 3).

展开摘要

Identity-preserving face synthesis aims to generate synthetic face images of virtual subjects that can substitute real-world data for training face recognition models. While prior arts strive to create images with consistent identities and diverse styles, they face a trade-off between them. Identifying their limitation of treating style variation as subject-agnostic and observing that real-world persons actually have distinct, subject-specific styles, this paper introduces MorphFace, a diffusion-based face generator. The generator learns fine-grained facial styles, e.g., shape, pose and expression, from the renderings of a 3D morphable model (3DMM). It also learns identities from an off-the-shelf recognition model. To create virtual faces, the generator is conditioned on novel identities of unlabeled synthetic faces, and novel styles that are statistically sampled from a real-world prior distribution. The sampling especially accounts for both intra-subject variation and subject distinctiveness. A context blending strategy is employed to enhance the generator's responsiveness to identity and style conditions. Extensive experiments show that MorphFace outperforms the best prior arts in face recognition efficacy.

展开摘要

Deep neural networks (DNNs) struggle at systematic generalization (SG). Several studies have evaluated the possibility of promoting SG through the proposal of novel architectures, loss functions, or training methodologies. Few studies, however, have focused on the role of training data properties in promoting SG. In this work, we investigate the impact of certain data distributional properties, as inductive biases for the SG ability of a multi-modal language model. To this end, we study three different properties. First, data diversity, instantiated as an increase in the possible values a latent property in the training distribution may take. Second, burstiness, where we probabilistically restrict the number of possible values of latent factors on particular inputs during training. Third, latent intervention, where a particular latent factor is altered randomly during training. We find that all three factors significantly enhance SG, with diversity contributing an 89% absolute increase in accuracy in the most affected property. Through a series of experiments, we test various hypotheses to understand why these properties promote SG. Finally, we find that Normalized Mutual Information (NMI) between latent attributes in the training distribution is strongly predictive of out-of-distribution generalization. We find that a mechanism by which lower NMI induces SG is in the geometry of representations. In particular, we find that NMI induces more parallelism in neural representations (i.e., input features coded in parallel neural vectors) of the model, a property related to the capacity of reasoning by analogy.

展开摘要

Photography during night or in dark conditions typically suffers from noise, low light and blurring issues due to the dim environment and the common use of long exposure. Although Deblurring and Low-light Image Enhancement (LLIE) are related under these conditions, most approaches in image restoration solve these tasks separately. In this paper, we present an efficient and robust neural network for multi-task low-light image restoration. Instead of following the current tendency of Transformer-based models, we propose new attention mechanisms to enhance the receptive field of efficient CNNs. Our method reduces the computational costs in terms of parameters and MAC operations compared to previous methods. Our model, DarkIR, achieves new state-of-the-art results on the popular LOLBlur, LOLv2 and Real-LOLBlur datasets, being able to generalize on real-world night images.
