CogView3: Finer and Faster Text-to-Image Generation via Relay Diffusion

Wendi Zheng, Jiayan Teng, Zhuoyi Yang, Weihan Wang, Jidong Chen, Xiaotao Gu, Yuxiao Dong, Ming Ding, Jie Tang

展开摘要

"Recent advancements in text-to-image generative systems have been largely driven by diffusion models. However, single-stage text-to-image diffusion models still face challenges, in terms of computational efficiency and the refinement of image details. To tackle the issue, we propose CogView3, an innovative cascaded framework that enhances the performance of text-to-image diffusion. CogView3 is the first model implementing relay diffusion in the realm of text-to-image generation, executing the task by first creating low-resolution images and subsequently applying relay-based super-resolution. This methodology not only results in competitive text-to-image outputs but also greatly reduces both training and inference costs. Our experimental results demonstrate that CogView3 outperforms SDXL, the current state-of-the-art open-source text-to-image diffusion model, by 77.0% in human evaluations, all while requiring only about 1/2 of the inference time. The distilled variant of CogView3 achieves comparable performance while only utilizing 1/10 of the inference time by SDXL."

Cocktail Universal Adversarial Attack on Deep Neural Networks

Shaoxin Li, Xiaofeng Liao, Xin Che, Xintong Li, Yong Zhang, Lingyang Chu

展开摘要

"Deep neural networks (DNNs) for image classification are known to be susceptible to many diversified universal adversarial perturbations (UAPs), where each UAP successfully attacks a large but substantially different set of images. Properly combining the diversified UAPs can significantly improve the attack effectiveness, as the sets of images successfully attacked by different UAPs are complementary to each other. In this paper, we study this novel type of attack by developing a cocktail universal adversarial attack framework. The key idea is to train a set of diversified UAPs and a selection neural network at the same time, such that the selection neural network can choose the most effective UAP when attacking a new target image. Due to the simplicity and effectiveness of the cocktail attack framework, it can be generally used to significantly boost the attack effectiveness of many classic single-UAP methods that use a single UAP to attack all target images. The proposed cocktail attack framework is also able to perform real-time attacks as it does not require additional training or fine-tuning when attacking new target images. Extensive experiments demonstrate the outstanding performance of cocktail attacks."

展开摘要

"Recent research has explored implicit representations, such as signed distance function (SDF), for interacting hand-object reconstruction. SDF enables modeling hand-held objects with arbitrary topology and overcomes the resolution limitations of parametric models, allowing for finer-grained reconstruction. However, directly modeling detailed SDFs from visual clues presents challenges due to depth ambiguity and appearance similarity, especially in cluttered real-world scenes. In this paper, we propose a coarse-to-fine SDF framework for 3D hand-object reconstruction, which leverages the perceptual advantages of RGB-D modality in visual and geometric aspects, to progressively model the implicit field. Specifically, we model a coarse SDF for visual perception of overall scenes. Then, we propose a 3D Point-Aligned Implicit Function (3D PIFu) for fine-level SDF learning, which leverages both local geometric clues and the coarse-level visual priors to capture intricate details. Additionally, we propose a surface-aware efficient reconstruction strategy that sparsely performs SDF query based on the hand-object semantic priors. Experiments on two challenging hand-object datasets show that our method outperforms existing methods by a large margin."

展开摘要

"We introduce , a transformer-based model that tracks a large number of 2D points in long video sequences. Differently from most existing approaches that track points independently, tracks them jointly, accounting for their dependencies. We show that joint tracking significantly improves tracking accuracy and robustness, and allows to track occluded points and points outside of the camera view. We also introduce several innovations for this class of trackers, including using token proxies that significantly improve memory efficiency and allow to track 70k points jointly and simultaneously at inference on a single GPU. is an online algorithm that operates causally on short windows. However, it is trained utilizing unrolled windows as a recurrent network, maintaining tracks for long periods of time even when points are occluded or leave the field of view. Quantitatively, substantially outperforms prior trackers on standard point-tracking benchmarks. Code and model weights are available at https://co-tracker.github.io/"

CoSIGN: Few-Step Guidance of ConSIstency Model to Solve General INverse Problems

Jiankun Zhao, Bowen Song, Liyue Shen

展开摘要

"Diffusion models have been demonstrated as strong priors for solving general inverse problems. Most existing Diffusion model-based Inverse Problem Solvers (DIS) employ a plug-and-play approach to guide the sampling trajectory with either projections or gradients. Though effective, these methods generally necessitate hundreds of sampling steps, posing a dilemma between inference time and reconstruction quality. In this work, we try to push the boundary of inference steps to 1-2 NFEs while still maintaining high reconstruction quality. To achieve this, we propose to leverage a pretrained distillation of diffusion model, namely consistency model, as the data prior. The key to achieving few-step guidance is to enforce two types of constraints during the sampling process of the consistency model: soft measurement constraint with ControlNet and hard measurement constraint via optimization. Supporting both single-step reconstruction and multistep refinement, the proposed framework further provides a way to trade image quality with additional computational cost. Within comparable NFEs, our method achieves new state-of-the-art in diffusion-based inverse problem solving, showcasing the significant potential of employing prior-based inverse problem solvers for real-world applications. 展开摘要

"The reasoning segmentation task, which demands a nuanced comprehension of intricate queries to accurately pinpoint object regions, is attracting increasing attention. However, Multi-modal Large Language Models (MLLM) often find it difficult to accurately localize the objects described in complex reasoning contexts. We believe that the act of reasoning segmentation should mirror the cognitive stages of human visual search, where each step is a progressive refinement of thought toward the final object. Thus we introduce the Chains of Reasoning and Segmenting (CoReS) and find this top-down visual hierarchy indeed enhances the visual search process. Specifically, we propose a dual-chain structure that generates multi-modal, chain-like outputs to aid the segmentation process. Furthermore, to steer the MLLM’s outputs into this intended hierarchy, we incorporate in-context inputs as guidance. Extensive experiments demonstrate the superior performance of our CoReS, which surpasses the state-of-the-art method by 6.5% on the ReasonSeg dataset."

展开摘要

"3D Gaussian Splatting (3DGS) creates a radiance field consisting of 3D Gaussians to represent a scene. With sparse training views, 3DGS easily suffers from overfitting, negatively impacting rendering. This paper introduces a new co-regularization perspective for improving sparse-view 3DGS. When training two 3D Gaussian radiance fields, we observe that the two radiance fields exhibit point disagreement and rendering disagreement that can unsupervisedly predict reconstruction quality, stemming from the randomness of densification implementation. We further quantify the two disagreements and demonstrate the negative correlation between them and accurate reconstruction, which allows us to identify inaccurate reconstruction without accessing ground-truth information. Based on the study, we propose CoR-GS, which identifies and suppresses inaccurate reconstruction based on the two disagreements: (i) Co-pruning considers Gaussians that exhibit high point disagreement in inaccurate positions and prunes them. (ii) Pseudo-view co-regularization considers pixels that exhibit high rendering disagreement are inaccurate and suppress the disagreement. Results on LLFF, Mip-NeRF360, DTU, and Blender demonstrate that CoR-GS effectively regularizes the scene geometry, reconstructs the compact representations, and achieves state-of-the-art novel view synthesis quality under sparse training views. CoPT: Unsupervised Domain Adaptive Segmentation using Domain-Agnostic Text Embeddings

Cristina Mata, Kanchana N Ranasinghe, Michael S Ryoo

展开摘要

"Unsupervised domain adaptation (UDA) involves learning class semantics from labeled data within a source domain that generalize to an unseen target domain. UDA methods are particularly impactful for semantic segmentation, where annotations are more difficult to collect than in image classification. Despite recent advances in large-scale vision-language representation learning, UDA methods for segmentation have not taken advantage of the domain-agnostic properties of text. To address this, we present a novel Covariance-based Pixel-Text loss, CoPT, that uses domain-agnostic text embeddings to learn domain-invariant features in an image segmentation encoder. The text embeddings are generated through our LLM Domain Template process, where an LLM is used to generate source and target domain descriptions that are fed to a frozen CLIP model and combined. In experiments on four benchmarks we show that a model trained using CoPT achieves the new state of the art performance on UDA for segmentation. The code can be found at https://github.com/cfmata/CoPT."

CoMusion: Towards Consistent Stochastic Human Motion Prediction via Motion Diffusion

Jiarui Sun, Girish Chowdhary

展开摘要

"Stochastic Human Motion Prediction (HMP) aims to predict multiple possible future human pose sequences from observed ones. Most prior works learn motion distributions through encoding-decoding in the latent space, which does not preserve motion’s spatial-temporal structure. While effective, these methods often require complex, multi-stage training and yield predictions that are inconsistent with the provided history and can be physically unrealistic. To address these issues, we propose , a single-stage, end-to-end diffusion-based stochastic HMP framework. is inspired from the insight that a smooth future pose initialization improves prediction performance, a strategy not previously utilized in stochastic models but evidenced in deterministic works. To generate such initialization, ’s motion predictor starts with a Transformer-based network for initial reconstruction of corrupted motion. Then, a graph convolutional network (GCN) is employed to refine the prediction considering past observations in the discrete cosine transformation (DCT) space. Our method, facilitated by the Transformer-GCN module design and a proposed variance scheduler, excels in predicting accurate, realistic, and consistent motions, while maintaining appropriate diversity. Experimental results on benchmark datasets demonstrate that surpasses prior methods across metrics, while demonstrating superior generation quality."

展开摘要

"Text-to-motion models excel at efficient human motion generation, but existing approaches lack fine-grained controllability over the generation process. Consequently, modifying subtle postures within a motion or inserting new actions at specific moments remains a challenge, limiting the applicability of these methods in diverse scenarios. In light of these challenges, we introduce CoMo, a Controllable Motion generation model, adept at accurately generating and editing motions by leveraging the knowledge priors of large language models (LLMs). Specifically, CoMo decomposes motions into discrete and semantically meaningful pose codes, with each code encapsulating the semantics of a body part, representing elementary information such as “left knee slightly bent”. Given textual inputs, CoMo autoregressively generates sequences of pose codes, which are then decoded into 3D motions. Leveraging pose codes as interpretable representations, an LLM can directly intervene in motion editing by adjusting the pose codes according to editing instructions. Experiments demonstrate that CoMo achieves competitive performance in motion generation compared to state-of-the-art models while, in human studies, CoMo substantially surpasses previous work in motion editing abilities. CoLeaF: A Contrastive-Collaborative Learning Framework for Weakly Supervised Audio-Visual Video Parsing

展开摘要

"Weakly supervised audio-visual video parsing (AVVP) methods aim to detect audible-only, visible-only, and audible-visible events using only video-level labels. Existing approaches tackle this by leveraging unimodal and cross-modal contexts. However, we argue that while cross-modal learning is beneficial for detecting audible-visible events, in the weakly supervised scenario, it negatively impacts unaligned audible or visible events by introducing irrelevant modality information. In this paper, we propose , a novel learning framework that optimizes the integration of cross-modal context in the embedding space such that the network explicitly learns to combine cross-modal information for audible-visible events while filtering them out for unaligned events. Additionally, as videos often involve complex class relationships, modelling them improves performance. However, this introduces extra computational costs into the network. Our framework is designed to leverage cross-class relationships during training without incurring additional computations at inference. Furthermore, we propose new metrics to better evaluate a method’s capabilities in performing AVVP. Our extensive experiments demonstrate that significantly improves the state-of-the-art results by an average of 1.9% and 2.4% F-score on the LLP and UnAV-100 datasets, respectively. 展开摘要

"The depth/thermal information is beneficial for detecting salient object with conventional RGB images. However, in dual-modal salient object detection (SOD) model, the robustness against noisy inputs and modality missing is crucial but rarely studied. To tackle this problem, we introduce Conditional Dropout and LAnguage-driven(CoLA) framework comprising two core components. 1) Language-driven Quality Assessment (LQA): Leveraging a pretrained vision-language model with a prompt learner, the LQA recalibrates image contributions without requiring additional quality annotations. This approach effectively mitigates the impact of noisy inputs. 2) Conditional Dropout (CD): A learning method to strengthen the model’s adaptability in scenarios with missing modalities, while preserving its performance under complete modalities. The CD serves as a plug-in training scheme that treats modality-missing as conditions, strengthening the overall robustness of various dual-modal SOD models. Extensive experiments demonstrate that the proposed method outperforms state-of-the-art dual-modal SOD models, under both modality-complete and modality-missing conditions. The code is avaliable at https://github.com/ssecv/CoLA."

展开摘要

"Unsupervised Domain Adaptation (UDA) aims to adapt models from labeled source domains to unlabeled target domains. When adapting to adverse scenes, existing UDA methods fail to perform well due to the lack of instructions, leading their models to overlook discrepancies within all adverse scenes. To tackle this, we propose CoDA which instructs models to distinguish, focus, and learn from these discrepancies at scene and image levels. Specifically, CoDA consists of a Chain-of-Domain (CoD) strategy and a Severity-Aware Visual Prompt Tuning (SAVPT) mechanism. CoD focuses on scene-level instructions to divide all adverse scenes into easy and hard scenes, guiding models to adapt from source to easy domains with easy scene images, and then to hard domains with hard scene images, thereby laying a solid foundation for whole adaptations. Building upon this foundation, we employ SAVPT to dive into more detailed image-level instructions to boost performance. SAVPT features a novel metric Severity that divides all adverse scene images into low-severity and high-severity images. Then Severity directs visual prompts and adapters, instructing models to concentrate on unified severity features instead of scene-specific features, without adding complexity to the model architecture. CoDA achieves SOTA performances on widely-used semantic segmentation benchmarks under all adverse scenes. Notably, CoDA outperforms the existing ones by 4.6%, and 10.3% mIoU on the Foggy Driving, and Foggy Zurich benchmarks, respectively. Our code is available at https://github.com/Cuzyoung/CoDA."

展开摘要

"In multi-class histopathology nuclei analysis tasks, the lack of training data becomes a main bottleneck for the performance of learning-based methods. To tackle this challenge, previous methods have utilized generative models to increase data by generating synthetic samples. However, existing methods often overlook the importance of considering the context of biological tissues (e.g., shape, spatial layout, and tissue type) in the synthetic data. Moreover, while generative models have shown superior performance in synthesizing realistic histopathology images, none of the existing methods are capable of producing image-label pairs at the same time. In this paper, we introduce a novel framework for co-synthesizing histopathology nuclei images and paired semantic labels using a context-conditioned joint diffusion model. We propose conditioning of a diffusion model using nucleus centroid layouts with structure-related text prompts to incorporate spatial and structural context information into the generation targets. Moreover, we enhance the granularity of our synthesized semantic labels by generating instance-wise nuclei labels using distance maps synthesized concurrently in conjunction with the images and semantic labels. We demonstrate the effectiveness of our framework in generating high-quality samples on multi-institutional, multi-organ, and multi-modality datasets. Our synthetic data consistently outperforms existing augmentation methods in the downstream tasks of nuclei segmentation and classification."

"Co-speech gesture video generation is an enabling technique for many digital human applications. Substantial progress has been made in creating high-quality talking head videos. However, existing hand gesture video generation methods are primarily limited by the widely adopted 2D skeleton-based gesture representation and still struggle to generate realistic hands. We introduce an audio-driven co-speech video generation pipeline to synthesize human speech videos leveraging 3D human mesh-based representations. By adopting a 3D human mesh-based gesture representation, we present a mesh-grounded video generator that includes a mesh texture map optimization step followed by a conditional GAN network and outputs photorealistic gesture videos with realistic hands. Our experiments on the TalkSHOW dataset demonstrate the effectiveness of our method over 2D skeleton-based baselines."

Co-Student: Collaborating Strong and Weak Students for Sparsely Annotated Object Detection

展开摘要

"Sparsely Annotated Object Detection (SAOD) tackles the issue of incomplete labeling in object detection. Compared with Fully Annotated Object Detection (FAOD), SAOD is more complicated and challenging. Unlabeled objects tend to provide wrong supervision to the detectors during training, resulting in inferior performance for prevalent object detectors. Shrinking the performance gap between SAOD and FAOD does contribute to reducing the labeling cost. Existing methods tend to exploit pseudo-labeling for unlabeled objects while suffering from two issues: (1) they fail to make full use of unlabeled objects mined from the student detector and (2) the pseudo-labels contain much noise. To tackle those two issues, we introduce , a novel framework aiming to bridge the gap between SAOD and FAOD via fully exploiting the pseudo-labels from both teacher and student detectors. The proposed comprises a sophisticated teacher to denoise the pseudo-labels for unlabeled objects and two collaborative students that leverage strong and weak augmentations to excavate pseudo-labels. The students exchange the denoised pseudo-labels and learn from each other with consistency regularization brought by strong-weak augmentations. Without bells and whistles, the proposed framework with the one-stage detector, , FCOS, can achieve state-of-the-art performance on the COCO dataset with sparse annotations under diverse settings. Compared to previous works, it obtains 1.0%∼3.0% AP improvements under five settings of sparse annotations and achieves 95.1% performance compared to FCOS trained on fully annotated COCO dataset. 展开摘要

"3D decomposition/segmentation remains a challenge as large-scale 3D annotated data is not readily available. Existing approaches typically leverage 2D machine-generated segments, integrating them to achieve 3D consistency. In this paper, we propose , a novel approach achieving both segmentation and reconstruction in 3D via the neural implicit surface representation, specifically the Signed Distance Function (SDF), where the segmentation rendering is directly integrated with the volume rendering of neural implicit surfaces. Although based on ObjectSDF++, no longer requires ground-truth segments for supervision while maintaining the capability of reconstructing individual object surfaces, relying purely on the noisy and inconsistent labels from pre-trained models. As the core of , we introduce a highly efficient clustering mechanism for lifting 2D labels to 3D. Experimental results on the challenging scenes from ScanNet and Replica datasets show that can achieve competitive performance compared to the state-of-the-art with significantly reduced training time."

CloudFixer: Test-Time Adaptation for 3D Point Clouds via Diffusion-Guided Geometric Transformation

展开摘要

"3D point clouds captured from real-world sensors frequently encompass noisy points due to various obstacles, such as occlusion, limited resolution, and variations in scale. These challenges hinder the deployment of pre-trained point cloud recognition models trained on clean point clouds, leading to significant performance degradation. While test-time adaptation (TTA) strategies have shown promising results on this issue in the 2D domain, their application to 3D point clouds remains under-explored. Among TTA methods, an input adaptation approach, which directly converts test instances to the source domain using a pre-trained diffusion model, has been proposed in the 2D domain. Despite its robust TTA performance in practical situations, naively adopting this into the 3D domain may be suboptimal due to the neglect of inherent properties of point clouds, and its prohibitive computational cost. Motivated by these limitations, we propose CloudFixer, a test-time input adaptation method tailored for 3D point clouds, employing a pre-trained diffusion model. Specifically, CloudFixer optimizes geometric transformation parameters with carefully designed objectives that leverage the geometric properties of point clouds. We also substantially improve computational efficiency by avoiding backpropagation through the diffusion model and a prohibitive generation process. Furthermore, we propose an online model adaptation strategy by aligning the original model prediction with that of the adapted input. Extensive experiments showcase the superiority of CloudFixer over various TTA baselines, excelling in handling common corruptions and natural distribution shifts across diverse real-world scenarios. Closed-Loop Unsupervised Representation Disentanglement with $\\beta$-VAE Distillation and Diffusion Probabilistic Feedback

展开摘要

"Representation disentanglement may help AI fundamentally understand the real world and thus benefit both discrimination and generation tasks. It currently has at least three unresolved core issues: (i) heavy reliance on label annotation and synthetic data — causing poor generalization on natural scenarios; (ii) heuristic/hand-craft disentangling constraints make it hard to adaptively achieve an optimal training trade-off; (iii) lacking reasonable evaluation metric, especially for the real label-free data. To address these challenges, we propose a Closed-Loop unsupervised representation Disentanglement approach dubbed CL-Dis. Specifically, we use diffusion-based autoencoder (Diff-AE) as a backbone while resorting to β-VAE as a co-pilot to extract semantically disentangled representations. The strong generation ability of diffusion model and the good disentanglement ability of VAE model are complementary. To strengthen disentangling, VAE-latent distillation and diffusion-wise feedback are interconnected in a closed-loop system for a further mutual promotion. Then, a self-supervised Navigation strategy is introduced to identify interpretable semantic directions in the disentangled latent space. Finally, a new metric based on content tracking is designed to evaluate the disentanglement effect. Experiments demonstrate the superiority of CL-Dis on applications like real image manipulation and visual analysis."
