摘要

The rapid growth of mobile IoT is increasingly driven by eSIM technology, which enables seamless switching between network operators. Despite its potential, large-scale performance evaluations of commercial eSIM systems remain scarce. This study presents the first comprehensive analysis of eSIM reliability, utilizing a longitudinal dataset of over 22 million IoT devices in China over four years. Our analysis reveals that current failover-based multi-operator access (FAMOA) strategies significantly hamper performance due to high handover latency and disconnection risks. To address these limitations, we propose NeSIM, a framework implementing a novel Lookahead-based Multi-Operator Access (LAMOA) strategy. By leveraging AI-driven predictive analytics to proactively orchestrate operator switches, NeSIM reduces the risk of disconnectivity by 80.63% and cuts average handover latency from 9.93 to 5.26 minutes.
